Who can be part of a photo shoot :

Anyone can be a model and have glamorous images taken. All it takes is a little creativity with hair, makeup, clothing and lights and you too can have quality glamourous photos. Theme photos are a popular way to make portraits more interesting and fun. Bring props that accessorize an outfit that fits a theme: a tennis racquet or golf clubs, a musical instrument or a favorite purse. Recreate the look of a bygone era; a pin up from the 1940s or a Hollywood starlet during the golden era.
You do not need to worry about where to put your hands, how to position your legs or come up with poses. You only need to look at the sample pose book and mimic what you see.
If you are under 18 you will need your parents permission. They will have to sign a “minor model release” and they should accompany you to the shoot.

What is a Release?

If you are over 18, you can wear whatever you like. But I will require you to sign a “Model Release” before I take any pictures. If you are looking for something to give your significant other you might consider a boudoir photo. Here is an article describing one reason photos like that are done. The cost of doing this type of shoot varies greatly. A basic shoot will run about $100. The article does quote prices ranging from $100 to $7,000. A basic shoot will include about 3 wardrobe changes with a couple hundred photos being taken. The photos can be taken in the studio, at your home or other location of your choice. The cost increases when clothing must be purchased, a location must be rented or stylists and make up artists are needed.

Preparing for a Photo Shoot :
Preparing for your Glamour Photo Session
By Bob Pardue.

The day of your romantic glamour session is finally here

OK, you've booked your glamour session and everything seems to be all set for this important day.

Now what?

After taking this first step your goal should be to make this photo session the best it can be.

A glamour photographer can do much to help your look but these are must-dos in order for you to help the photographer.

#1 - When is your boudoir session?

If your photo session is in the morning, be sure and eat a good breakfast.

If you are having an afternoon session, eat a light lunch. It takes a lot of energy to do romantic portraits and you don't want to run out of steam before the session is over.

#2 - Don't let time stress you out - It will show in your photographs

Try to leave home early enough to be at the session on time, or better still, a little early.

When you are in a hurry, stress sets in. Although we don't rush you into a session (some photographers do) the anxiety that you feel because of being rushed to get to your photo session will make it difficult to put yourself into the relaxed, romantic mood needed to have a successful glamour photo session.
#3 - Don't try to go it alone

Bring a friend with you to the photo studio. If a romantic photographer refuses this request, check a little closer before using him or her. This is a safety precaution that every woman should follow.

#4 - Wear clothing that is suitable to your romantic photo session

Come to your intimate photography session wearing clothing that fits loosely to insure the least amounts of marks on your body.

These marks take time to go away and may waste your limited amount of time allocated for the portrait session. (professional glamour models know this secret and are ready to go without a waiting period)

#5 - The hair!!!- The hair!!!

Instead of a pullover, wear a button up shirt so that you won't disturb the makeup and hair when you begin to change for your boudoir session.

#6 - The Clothes!!! - The Clothes!!!

Wear a clear deodorant instead of the white, powdery kind so that your clothes will stay the color they should be.

#7 - But perfume is sooooo romantic

If you wear perfume to the photo shoot (not recommended), make sure it's very light. Photographers sometimes work in small studios and strong perfume will overwhelm your photographer and the others who have to work with you.

#8 - Do I need to wear makeup?

Many boudoir photo sessions will include a makeup and/or hair artist. If this is the case come to your session without any makeup or concealer and make sure your hair is good and clean.

If your boudoir photographer wants you to do your own makeup for the session, go here for glamour makeup tips to help you apply makeup for the camera and lights.

#9 - Have Fun!!!

Going to a professional photographer for a glamour photo session does not mean that you can't have fun.

Following the steps above will help insure that you will have fun during your boudoir session by getting off to a good start.

Romantic glamour photography is a collaboration between the model and the photographer and the more you prepare for your photo session the more you will enjoy your day of romance.

Why do a Photo Shoot :
How Boudoir Photos can Increase Self-esteem and Sensuality By Tiffany Aron

"Romanza" is the image that inspired Carol Calandra to have her own set of boudoir photos taken.

She doesn't like to boast, but Carol Calandra truly knows what it feels like to glow during pregnancy. Comfortable in her new body, she was ready to show it off.

"I myself had never felt more beautiful in my entire life," said the Web designer, who lives in Seattle. "I had an absolutely gorgeous belly."

So at 8 1/2 months, she channeled her confidence into something that had been on her mind for a while even before the weight gain: she hired a photographer to take sexy nude photos of herself.

The boudoir photo, as it is called in the trade, has often been thought of as a guilty pleasure. For a fee, professional photographers can transform the average man's or woman's fantasy into real-life images, all during a private shoot.

Whether initially picturing themselves in the centerfold or looking to put some spice back into their relationships, many everyday folks are discovering that these photos can also be a great way to raise self-esteem and explore sensuality and natural beauty. Subjects can choose to wear sexy lingerie or nothing at all, but while often provocative, the photos seldom cross the line into pornographic or kinky.

"I feel every woman is sensual and sexy just the way she is," says Theresa LoSchiavo, the Washington state-based photographer who took Calandra's photos.

LoSchiavo has been specializing in what she calls "intimate portraits" for the past 8 years, after making a living as a wedding photographer. She was encouraged to pursue this genre by a friend, who was looking through some of her old photos and spotted one of a woman kneeling provocatively on a bed.

LoSchiavo's work evolved during a time when boudoir photos were shot in a shady studio, where the subjects put on "stupid clothes," as LoSchaivo describes it, and plastered their faces with garish makeup. The final results were unnatural misrepresentations of the person, transforming her into someone barely recognizable.

"I don't make over anybody," said LoSchiavo. "I may enhance, but I don't change anything."

LoSchiavo says while her clients range in age, body type and sexual preference, they almost all are reluctant at first, needing a prod from their spouse or partner to get in front of the lens. However, once they schedule a consultation with the photographer to settle on the look of the shoot, a certain curiosity emerges, she says. Clients start to wonder how they might look as the centerfold.

"It's more like a fantasy," said LoSchiavo. "We want to be the girl in the photo."

LoSchiavo tries to get to know her subjects first and find out something about them before the photo session. She charges $360 to shoot three to six rolls of film in a session that can last most of the day.

"I find what I am looking for, a connection is made and we are having fun," she said.

Tommy Edwards, another Seattle-based photographer who has been producing artistic erotic images since 1980, also insists on meeting new clients first to find out what they feel comfortable with and what kind of look they hope to achieve. His prices vary, depending on how elaborate the set is. He once arranged a $7,000 session for a woman who flew from South Africa but has also done simple shots for as little as $100.

Most people have a desire to see themselves as sensual creatures, Edwards says. And the days of people feeling perverted or embarrassed about expressing their sensuality, he says, are thankfully gone. His clients are diverse and include a 72-year-old woman who always wanted to have nude photos taken, but was raised to believe that it was somehow wrong.

LoSchiavo's shots of Calandra included one photo where her breasts and the top of her pubic line are exposed and her husband, who is hidden behind her, has his hands on her belly.

"'Wow, I look that good?'" Calandra remembered saying after she first saw the picture. "'Damn, that's hot.'"

Her husband, who calls it the "ooh-la-la" photo, thought it was classy, so Calandra had it framed and matted. It now hangs in the living room.

But good taste isn't always so easy to find in a client, the photographers say. Both LoSchiavo and Edwards turn down prospective clients regularly. LoSchiavo won't shoot anything that she considers pornographic and she does not hesitate to turn down men, many of whom request close-ups below the belt.

"They think sexy is centered around the penis," she said. "I screen men a helluva lot harder."

Photos of whippings, spankings, animals, children or anything that would degrade someone or cause them harm are out of the question with Edwards. He believes intimate photos should raise a person's self-esteem, especially among women, who lose confidence after years of hearing boyfriends tell them they're too fat or too thin.

The biggest reward for Edwards is watching a woman view finished photos of herself for the first time, which often dispels her own negative body image. Many break down in tears.

"I believe every person has a beautiful side to them," he said. "I will find it. Always."

Cost :

The cost of a photo session varies greatly depending on the amount of time it takes, if other professionals such as make up or hair stylists are needed, if special props or backgrounds are needed and over course what the purpose of the images is.
A typical photo shoot takes runs about 3 hours. This leaves time for you to model 3-4 outfits / looks with a bit of time to for you to change hair and makeup each time. I can arrange for a makeup artist or hair stylist at an additional cost or you can either do your own or bring a friend to help you.

In the past my typical 3 hr. photo session ranged from $125 to $500 depending on the photo package selected. It was very difficult for the customer to select which package to do beforehand. So I have revised the process.

Instead of picking predetermined package and number of photos you will be able to pick and choose any quantity and size you want after you see the images. To do this I will be charging a sitting fee -- this will cover the cost of taking the photos and editing what I think are the best images. Once edited you will be able to select and purchase what images you want as prints from my online store.
The sitting fee for a typical shoot will be $40 for the first hour (or any part of the hour) plus $30/hr from then on. So the typical 3 hour session will cost $40+$30+$30 = $100.
If would like a CD with proof sized copies of all the images the day of the shoot for an additional $10.
Included in the cost of the shoot is placing the finished images in an online public gallery. From here you can view the finished images and select which to have prints made from. For an additional $15 I will create a private gallery for your photos online that only you will have the password for.
Visit one of the galleries I have currently on display, this is what your photos will look like online. To get an idea of the cost of having prints made choose one of the images and select "buy", a list of the various sizes and types of images available and their costs will be shown. Prints ordered through the web site have the "Shadowspawn" logo removed. The quality of the printed images is amazing, the professional lab I selected to fulfill print orders does a top notch job.
If you are interested in creating a calendar it may take several sessions to get the 12 images plus one for the cover done but the additional sessions are discounted. In addition to a calendar, a very nice photo book can be created by using images that were not used in the calendar.
Notes:
if you need photos for an advertisement or other commercial purposes the costs may be higher.
additional editing or enhancing of images is available.
if you are willing to allow me to use images of you the sitting fee can be greatly reduced... see my page on Free photo shoots.
